Glory Ridge

This week I have to opportunity to spend a few days in my favorite place. Glory Ridge is a Christian outreach camp that hosts youth groups from all over the country to worship and give back to the community of Madison County. I have been involved with this organization since I was 13 years old. I have been a camper, a counselor and now a committee advisor. This camp has played a huge role in my spiritual growth. Growing up my parents made us go to church every Sunday. I would sit in the pews and draw all over the bulletin waiting for communion because that meant it was almost over. I knew that being a Christian meant always doing the right thing, never cheat, dont lie and treat others the way you would want to be treated but I never truly knew what it meant to love God with your whole heart. It wasnt until my second trip to Glory Ridge did I find out what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus and to trust that God has a plan. The Ridge gave me a safe place to ask questions, to grow in my faith and to grow into my own faith separate from my parents.

This camp has provided me with my absolute favorite memories, friendships and families. This community has shaped me into the woman I am today. The spirit of the grounds fills anyone with a welcoming feeling and a sense of peace. I will forever be thankful to those who have paved the road along the way in my journey with Glory Ridge.
